Our Philosophy and Mission
VERITAS Christian School exists to help students acquire knowledge and a love
for learning, while also developing critical reasoning and communication
skills. Our ultimate goal is to help students think ‘Christianly’ about all
aspects of life.
| A Partnership |
VERITAS Christian School, as
a study center, fosters a vital partnership between the academy and the home -
where parents and teachers work together to create a climate in which students
can grow in knowledge, character, and faith.
|
| A Classical Approach |
VERITAS offers the Christian
family a tried and proven method for raising young adults who are confident and
articulate thinkers - able to read perceptively, able to express themselves
well, and able to grasp the great ideas that have shaped Western civilization;
all of which equips students to confront the challenges of modern society,
technology, and culture. The classical approach is based on a system developed
in antiquity. It consists of thee stages and is generally referred to as the "Trivium".VERITAS
Christian School is not an ‘elitist’ program, but an ‘honors’ program for
everyone.
|
| A Spiritual Approach |
One of the distinctives of
VCS is a focus upon the vital role that Fathers play in the spiritual and moral
development of children. To this end, VCS will provide activities and programs
to encourage and educate Fathers in this important role.

Veritas
Christian School, a new school concept, seeks to provide a classical and
Christian education for homeschool students. Classes will be taught
according to the classical model of intellectual development. Grammar
students (elementary age) will be led to know the facts; logic students (middle
school) will be led to explore the relationships between facts; rhetoric
students (high school age) will learn to present themselves and their ideas
effectively, not merely for persuasion’s sake but ever mindful of the supreme
value God places on truth and its inherent beauty. The curriculum as a
whole will stress literary excellence and sound reasoning in the Biblical and
Western tradition.
Veritas Christian School seeks to constructively address what we believe to be
a crisis of culture whose harmful effects have been particularly severe on
children and young adults. Many families have lost their religious
function, churches are losing their theological rigor, and many schools have
lost their academic focus. Not surprisingly, "Johnny” seldom reads, on
his own initiative, anything more weighty than sport or fashion info. He
has very little knowledge of the civilization in which he lives; and,
unfortunately, shows little interest in the development of his God-given
intellectual powers. It goes without saying that we are reaping the
barren harvest of a world in which there is "no place for truth," as one highly
regarded Christian author recently put it.
Two significant movements, homeschooling and Classical Christian schooling,
offer hope for a better future. We seek, under the blessing of God, to
creatively combine their prominent features in order to advance the cause of
true piety and learning among our youth. Our sons and daughters need an
intellectual challenge that will prepare them to both proclaim and defend the
faith in an increasingly skeptical environment. As parents and
mentors, we must give the young something more solid to stand on, lest they
have "zeal without knowledge" - which will fail them as surely as it did the
Jews of St. Paul's day.
The Veritas Christian School is enrolling students now for grades 5 through 12.
Classes currently meet on Tuesday and Thursday each week.

Our confession of faith consists in the Holy Scriptures as interpreted in
historic Christian orthodoxy by the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds;
and by that consensus on the nature of the Biblical gospel as articulated by
the Protestant Reformers. The great Reformation mottoes - Scripture Alone,
Christ Alone, Faith Alone, and To the Glory of God Alone, are also mottoes of
VERITAS Christian School.
